Robertson Nursing Home’s member of staff saves a life! January 2015

At Robertson, we pride ourselves on ensuring that our staff are trained in all areas and to a high standard. We make sure that all training is up to date, and that staff are regularly updated as to when their next training sessions will be. Not so long ago, one of the staff members proved just how invaluable training can be, both in and out of work. Gayle had completed her CPR update on 20th January. After she had finished her shift at Robertson, she went off shopping to Tesco in Aldershot. She had noticed an elderly couple and thought to herself that the gentleman did not look very well. As Gayle was shopping, she felt someone standing very close to her and as she turned the gentleman she saw earlier was leaning on her. He started to drop to the floor. Gayle guided him to the floor as realised he was in trouble, and automatically started CPR and continued until the paramedics arrived. She was told by the paramedics that her quick thinking and skill had saved this gentleman’s life. Gayle felt confident & knew exactly what to do, having completed her first Aid and the CPR update that very same day. Gayle’s Grandson 12 year old Calhan, was shopping with her and he is very proud of his Nanny for saving someone’s life. It goes without saying just how invaluable the training our staff undertake really is.
