My wife Jean moved into Robertson Nursing Home earlier this year for respite care following a fall and spending a period of time in Surreys Royal County Hospital with cracked ribs.  She came to Robertson Nursing Home for a short period but returned to hospital after contracting an infection [Not Covid -19 Related] and then returned to Robertson Nursing Home to recover.  Jean required additional support having suffered a stroke a number of years ago.

Jean has been in Robertson for the last 4 months and settled in well.  Jean moved in just before the home went into lock down.  Prior to the home closing its doors to visitors I felt privileged to be able to visit Jean when I wanted, stay for Sunday lunch and enjoy fish and chip Fridays.

I learnt of Robertson Nursing Home and the good work they do from friends who have or had family members in the home and professionals working in the Health and Social Care Sector. All had very good things to say about the home, its staff and Penny the manager.   The home is also ideally situated for me I can walk to it in 10 minutes and drive in 5 minutes if I wish.

The warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere received from staff who are very considerate was very reassuring and I knew Jean would be in safe hands.  The homes environment is looking a little tired but I understand it is due to be refurbished.

The homes extraordinary approach to Covid-19 has meant they have prevented the virus entering the home and affecting residents and staff.  Sadly it meant not seeing Jean for several months but I did speak with her every day several times a day via her mobile.  Penny has maintained excellent contact with everyone, providing us with regular updates on what’s been going on in the home.  Now there is an easing of lock down and whilst respecting social distancing I have been able to see Jean in the garden most days.

It’s been a difficult time for everyone but I have no complaints the lockdown has been handled and managed superbly by first class staff.

Jeans respite is coming to an end I hope to be able to have her home by the end of July. That said I can’t thank Robertson Nursing Home enough for the first class personal care provided by very understanding caring staff.   I am more than happy to recommend Robertson Nursing Home.
