Community moments in 2025

Published on 09th January 2026

A big priority for Beritaz Care in 2025 was playing an active role in our local communities. We are proud to be a part of the communities surrounding our homes and greatly appreciate all the support they have shown to the homes and our residents over the years.

As well as working closely with local healthcare providers and organisations, in 2025 we have also had the chance to get to know other community organisations. We had some wonderful opportunities to connect generations this year, working with schools and nurseries across Surrey and Dorset for intergenerational activities within our homes. Residents at Windsor Court have greatly appreciated visits from the children of Talbot Woods Nursery and have returned visits to the nursery. Spending time with these children has had such a positive impact on our residents. They also welcomed a group of Royal Air Force Cadets to commemorate Remembrance Day and participate in a service at the home.

We have also been able to welcome volunteers and work experience students from some of these schools, including students from Charterhouse School who visited Robertson Nursing Home weekly to work with our residents and learn about life at a nursing home. Ashton Manor also welcomed several students from Weydon School, as well as nursing students from Farnborough College of Technology. It was a pleasure to support and encourage the next generation of the care industry.

As well as welcoming visitors to the home, staff and residents from our homes have been out and about to attend community events and support local businesses. There were many trips out on the Beritaz minibus in 2025 to explore local landmarks, appreciating the beautiful local scenery and buildings, visiting local pubs and garden centres, and even trips to the seaside. The residents in our homes particularly enjoyed these adventures during the past year.

Several of our homes have local churches very close by, who continued to offer our residents support and spiritual guidance throughout the year. Residents who wished to were welcomed to attend church services, where they were accompanied by our staff. Members of the churches also gave their time to visit our homes, holding services or volunteering to support resident activities. Their kindness has been greatly appreciated.

We had some wonderful opportunities in 2025 to participate in local community events, such as the Wrecclesham village fete, where the Ashton Manor team ran a stall with games and competitions. In 2025, the Springkell House team worked with a fantastic local community organisation, the Friends of Beacon Hill School. This group supports school activities and other local community endeavours, and through this, members of the Springkell team volunteered to lend a hand running the refreshments stand at the Beacon Hill School summer fair.

In turn, we opened our homes up to the local communities, inviting friends of Beritaz Care to join us for several events throughout the year. Our 2025 summer parties proved to be as popular as ever, welcoming relatives and community members to join our residents for music, refreshments, and summer-themed activities at the homes. Ashton Manor continued to open their doors for Fish & Chips Fridays, inviting local community members in need of some company for a delicious lunch and a good chat, every Friday.

In 2025, we participated in Care Home Open Week. Springkell House welcomed visitors throughout the week, giving people the chance to get a glimpse into life at the home. Beritaz staff also took the opportunity to visit some of the other nursing and care homes operating in Dorset and Surrey. It was interesting to discover the different approaches used in these homes and share ideas with other care operators; we found the experience very inspiring.

The staff in our homes found their own ways to give back, both to our local communities and those further afield. During 2025, they participated in various fundraising activities aimed at supporting causes close to our hearts. Members of the Windsor Court team raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Two team members, Georgina and Henry, completed a sponsored 13-mile trek around Stonehenge; from this and other activities, they were able to raise a fantastic £1,594 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Robertson Nursing Home team also made some very special donations to worthy causes. Earlier in the year, Deepika had her ‘big cut’ (courtesy of our hairdresser, Karen) so that she could donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust; plus, an additional donation of £600 was raised to support their work. To close off 2025, Robertson Home Manager, Gabi, braved the shave to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. By shaving her hair, Gabi was able to raise a fantastic £765.00 to support the work of Macmillan.

It has been wonderful to see our communities, both within and outside our homes, grow stronger throughout 2025. The support we receive makes all the difference to our residents and staff, and we will be continuing to find new ways to build these relationships in 2026. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support us!
