The Alzheimer’s Society is a fantastic organisation that helps people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia, offering support to individuals and their families, as well as funding groundbreaking research into dementia care and treatments. The Alzheimer’s Society is a cause very close to all our hearts.
Georgina and Henry, team members from Windsor Court Care Home, wanted to do something to help this fantastic organisation, so have been taking part in activities to raise funds for this worthy cause. Georgina and Henry decided to take part in the 13-mile sponsored trek around Stonehenge, organised by the Alzheimer’s Society as part of their Trek13 campaign.
“We have seen how Alzheimer’s affects so many of our residents and their families, and the impact it has had on their lives.”
In the months before the event, Georgina and Henry were busy getting sponsors and holding other events to help them reach their fundraising goal of £600. The Windsor Court team members were more than happy to lend a hand, baking up a storm to put on a fantastic selection of tasty treats for a charity bake sale held at the home. We were so impressed with their brilliant baked goods and so was everyone who visited the stall, which raised a fantastic £162.
On Saturday 10th May, Georgina and Henry travelled to Salisbury and successfully completed the 13-mile trek around Stonehenge. We are incredibly proud of Georgina and Henry for successfully completing this challenge and spearheading the fundraising efforts to support such a brilliant organisation that helps so many people, including our residents and their families.
A big thank you to everyone who sponsored Georgina and Henry, they managed to smash their fundraising goal and in total raised a whopping £1,594 thanks to the combination of sponsorship donations and other fundraising activities. We hope this will go towards helping the Alzheimer’s Society continue their fantastic work supporting people affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia, and furthering research into the disease.
