Loneliness Awareness Week

Published on 15th June 2023

At Beritaz Care we are passionate about combatting loneliness. One of the most important things we are able to offer to the residents at our homes is companionship, within a warm and friendly environment.

Loneliness is something that impacts many people but is often felt particularly hard by older people. Connection is important and for those that are struggling with mobility or maybe don’t have family nearby, they can start to feel isolated and lonely. At Beritaz Care we are a family, when a new resident joins one of our homes they are welcomed into that family and helped to settle in as comfortably as possible.

All of our homes offer an extensive activities programme, with many of our activities designed specifically to encourage socialisation. Through group activities we provide plenty of opportunity for our residents to connect with each other, as well as comfortable communal areas within our homes where residents can enjoy having a chat over a nice cup of tea and some cake.

As well as finding companionship with their peers, residents at our homes often form close bonds with our staff. All of our team members take the time to get to know the residents, often spending time one-on-one with a resident to have a chat. Our residents know that there is always someone there to listen if they want to talk.

Loneliness Awareness Week is dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and getting people talking about it. Find out more about the campaign and how you can get involved here; https://www.lonelinessawarenessweek.org/
