What good care means to us at Beritaz Care

Published on 20th July 2026

July is Good Care Month, the perfect opportunity to share what good care means to us and celebrate the brilliant staff who help us to deliver good care every day in our Beritaz Care homes.

Providing good care is at the heart of everything we do. At Beritaz Care, good care goes beyond supporting residents’ health and physical wellbeing, it also means helping them to feel happy, fulfilled, independent, and truly able to enjoy their lives. We understand that for our residents and their families, good care means knowing they will be safe and well-supported, while also being treated with dignity and respected as an individual.

What Good Care means to us…

Delivering person-centred care
Every person is different, and we understand that they will all have different needs. Our ethos of person-centred care means every single resident in our homes receives a personalised care plan tailored to their needs and preferences. Staff get to know each resident, learning about their likes, dislikes, and what brings them joy, helping us to make sure the care we provide is right for each person. There is no one size fits all solution to good care.

Promoting independence and choice
We have the privilege of supporting our residents in their later life and helping them spend it as they choose. The residents of our homes play an active part in making decisions about the home, from the seasonal menus our kitchen team will prepare to the locations of minibus trips. Staff work with residents to build their confidence and support them to live as independently as possible, giving them the space to make choices about their daily routines. Good care is helping our residents to live how they choose.

Creating connections and friendships
At the heart of Beritaz Care are the communities we have built within our homes, helping to combat the loneliness that often impacts people in later life. We create an environment where they can get to know their fellow residents through group activities and social events, having the chance to chat to someone, meet people with shared interests, or even make a new best friend. For us, good care goes hand in hand with a good community, which includes the staff and residents within our homes, as well as their family members and friends who are always welcome.

Helping residents live full and happy lives
Above all, good care means making sure our residents are enjoying their lives and feel happy living at our homes. It is never too late in life to experience something new, and through our extensive activities programme, residents have the chance to take part in a wide variety of activities and entertainment. From creative activities to interactive musical performances, animal experiences, and themed events, there’s something for everyone. Residents are also encouraged to continue their favourite hobbies, whether they are a keen gardener, an artist or musician, we want everyone to spend time doing whatever brings them joy.

Celebrating the teams who make good care possible

Of course, none of this would be possible without the brilliant teams in our homes. From the talented nursing and care staff to the leadership teams and the admin, kitchen, domestic and ancillary staff who keep everything running. Providing good care is what each and every single person in the Beritaz family does every day.

Our team members go above and beyond to make sure our residents are happy and at ease. They take the time to sit down and chat to our residents, getting to know them, finding out about their lives, and in turn, building a trusting relationship that makes a huge impact on the care they receive. Beyond the bonds formed between staff and residents, our teams also know the importance of communication with family and friends. They are always happy to discuss residents’ care with their loved ones and will take the time to put their minds at ease over any concerns.

It is our team members who enable us to build such close communities at our homes, creating a space where everyone feels safe, content, valued, and at home. That is what good care is all about.
