Jean Poynter

Springkell House

Resident since: 2025

Jean's story...

Mrs Poynter has been a resident at Springkell House since 2025, and we are delighted to have her as part of our community.

Jean joined us shortly after her husband of 68 years, Roy, became a resident. After seeing the positive experience Roy had at Springkell House and how he flourished under the care of our team, their family felt that Springkell House could also be the perfect place for Jean. This proved to be a positive move for them both, allowing the couple to continue sharing their days together at the home until Roy sadly passed away.

They were married in 1956, the same year Roy joined the Air Force, and spent their married life travelling and exploring the world together, including adventures to New Zealand. Jean worked as a shorthand typist, and Roy as a chartered electrical engineer, after he left the Air Force.

Jean has truly embraced life at the home; she is often found spending time in the communal areas, enjoying the company of the other residents. Jean enjoys joining in with the group activities that are regularly run, or taking part in our social events. It has been lovely to see her benefit from the companionship and friendship found in our community, as well as her joy at discovering new hobbies.

It is a pleasure to have Jean at Springkell House, and we are honoured to support her as she continues to live her life to the full at the home.
