Ruth's story...

Ruth joined the community at Ashton Manor Nursing Home in August 2026 and has settled in well to life at the home. Despite struggling with her health, Ruth has really enjoyed taking part in the group activities at the home when she has been able, as well as spending time doing her favourite crafty hobbies. She has made several friends within the home and always enjoys having a chat with her fellow residents. Ruth always has a big smile on her face and stays positive, even on the days she isn’t feeling her best.

Since joining the Ashton Manor community, Ruth has received support from our local GP and worked closely with our physiotherapist on her mobility. She has also enjoyed receiving treatments from the chiropodist who regularly visits the home and visiting the hairdresser at our in-home salon.

Ruth’s daughter explains what they were looking for in a care facility and what made Ashton Manor the right home for Ruth:

“I was recommended Ashton Manor Nursing Home by the social services team we were speaking to at East Surrey Hospital. I needed to make sure we could find a home that offered 24-hour care, and I was advised that Ashton Manor would be able to meet Mum’s needs.

The location was perfect as it is local for me so I can visit Mum easily. The home seemed very clean, and all the staff were very friendly when I came to look around. Since Mum has moved to Ashton Manor, everyone has been very helpful and kind. There is always someone on call, which makes me feel reassured that she is receiving care and support whenever she needs it throughout the day and night.”
