Team member since: 2023
Fun fact: I worked in various restaurants before coming to cook at Springkell House
Robiul's story...
My name is Robiul and I have been working at Springkell House Care Home as a Domestic and Kitchen Assistant since October 2023. Before joining Springkell House, I worked in an Italian restaurant as a kitchen assistant and assistant chef in London. Before moving to the UK, I worked in my home country of Bangladesh as a supply chain management professional, where I gained cross-functional experience with multinational companies, e-commerce and f-commerce businesses.
My professional career did not originally begin in the care sector, but helping people has always been an important part of who I am. I have always been one of the first people to volunteer when someone needs help, so working in an environment where kindness, dignity and care are at the centre of everyday life feels like a natural fit for me.
My daily role is centred around helping to keep the home clean, tidy, hygienic and welcoming, so that our residents can feel comfortable and safe in their surroundings. I take great pride in the small details, because in a care home, cleanliness and hygiene play an important part in residents’ health and wellbeing. I also support the kitchen team with meals, drinks and other day-to-day tasks. One of the simplest but most rewarding parts of my day is making a resident a nice cup of tea and seeing the smile it brings to their face.
Although I am not a Care Assistant, I believe my role is still very much part of caring. Whether I am cleaning a room, helping with a meal, serving a drink or having a friendly conversation, I know that what I do contributes to creating a comfortable and positive environment for our residents.
I have many lovely memories from my time at Springkell, but it is often the small moments that mean the most. A smile, a kind word, a thank-you or seeing a resident enjoying their meal can stay with you for the rest of the day. My favourite part of my job is seeing the residents happy and knowing that I have played even a small part in making their day better. I especially enjoy the everyday moments – having a chat, making someone a cup of tea, helping with a meal or seeing a resident smile.
I also really value the relationships I have built with my colleagues. We support one another, share responsibilities and help each other through challenging days. That sense of teamwork makes the workplace special and creates many good memories. The biggest reason I enjoy working at Springkell House is the people. From the beginning, I was made to feel welcome, and within a short time I realised that Springkell could become a second family for me.
My wife, Razin, also works at Springkell as a Care Assistant, which was one of the reasons I was keen to join the team. We are far away from our parents and wider families in Bangladesh, so having a workplace filled with friendly, supportive and caring people means a great deal to both of us. I love the strong sense of teamwork here. Everyone has different responsibilities, but we are all working towards the same goal – making sure our residents are safe, comfortable, respected and happy. I feel proud to be part of that shared purpose.
For me, the residents are the heart of the home. Their smiles, stories and personalities make every day different. Being around them sometimes feels like spending time with my own grandparents, and that is one of the things that motivates me every day. I hope to continue learning, contributing and supporting the wonderful team at Springkell House. I feel blessed to be part of such a caring community, knowing that the little things we do can make a big difference to someone’s day.
I feel very fortunate to have found a workplace where I can bring together my previous experience, learn new things and, most importantly, do work that has a positive impact on other people. I am grateful to all my colleagues for their kindness, encouragement and support, and I am proud to be part of the Springkell House family.
