Sandie Steyn - Senior Care Assistant

Windsor Court

Team member since: 2022

Sandie's story...

As a senior care assistant at Windsor Court, my role involves interacting with staff, residents, and healthcare professionals to deliver person-centred care of the highest quality to our residents. I am responsible for creating personalised care plans which are tailored to each resident, ensuring that the information is current and correct. I support and supervise our care team, as well as manage the ordering and administration of medication.

We work with a lot of local healthcare providers to assist with resident care and ensure they have access to all the support they need. I liaise with these external healthcare professionals to get the best possible outcomes for our residents.

I get to work with a fantastic team at Windsor Court. They are all such passionate and caring people, we all get along so well it feels like a big family.

I first joined Windsor Court in February 2022 in the role of care assistant, and within six months I was promoted to the role of senior care assistant. Before coming to Windsor Court, I worked in medical sales but wanted to do something that makes a difference. I love that I get to be an advocate for our residents when dealing with healthcare professionals and know I am helping to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people.

In my role, I get the chance to spend time with and get to know our residents. I love that I get to make a positive impact on their day and make life a bit easier for them. Seeing residents smile due to my interactions with them makes my day! I have so many wonderful memories from my time at Windsor Court, in particular the summer parties we host every year in the garden of the home. The residents and their families always look so happy on these days.

I get to work with a fantastic team at Windsor Court. They are all such passionate and caring people, we all get along so well it feels like a big family. I love that management at the home are so approachable and supportive, they are always proactive and ready to provide us with support if there is a problem. They have also been really encouraging as I pursue training and qualifications related to my role. I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and the support I had from management was invaluable.

No two days are the same at Windsor Court, and that variety in my day-to-day experience is something I really like, it is a wonderful place to work.
