Hi, I’m Aneena and I am a Senior Care Assistant at Springkell House Care Home. I have been working in the care industry since 2022 and have been a member of the Springkell care team since the end of 2024.
I have always had a desire to help others, so a career in care seemed like the perfect choice for me. Working in care requires an empathetic approach, for me it is about being able to support vulnerable people with compassion and love.
At Springkell House I assist residents with all aspects of their care. I handle the administration of medication, updating resident records, keeping their families updated, communicating with the local GP and assisting with GP rounds. I help to manage any medical appointments that the residents might need, keeping in contact with the District Nurses so they are aware of any resident injuries.
I am also responsible for supervising the other care staff, leading the team by giving clear instructions and ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities. I try to be a supportive member of the team, helping out my colleagues with anything they need.
In my role at the home, I get the chance to develop strong bonds with residents. I enjoy getting to hear their stories and learning about their lives. It makes me happy to know I am making a positive impact on their lives, no matter how small it may seem. Seeing the residents’ happiness when they are engaged in activities is wonderful.
I get to work with a fantastic team at Springkell House, communication amongst the staff is great and we work well together. Everyone updates each other on concerns related to the residents, which helps us to act proactively to ensure residents are well cared for.
Beritaz Care is a great company to work for. They give us the opportunity to develop our skills and knowledge by providing extensive training. I have had the opportunity to make many great memories with the residents and my team members. From celebrations with the residents, to having fun with staff and management while learning to use the new walkie-talkies that were being introduced at the home.
My husband started working with Beritaz Care several years before me, and I had seen the great teamwork and supportive management that he experienced. It’s this kind of company culture that helps to build the team to higher levels and it’s what first attracted me to start my career with Beritaz.
