Sanjana Thebe – Registered Nurse
“The entire Ashton Manor team is wonderful, we work well together and there is always good communication between the staff.”
Hi, I’m Sanjana and I joined Ashton Manor in 2018, so I have been a part of the team now for 6 years.
Working in Ashton Manor was my first job in the care industry. Both my sisters are assistant nurses back home in Nepal, so I used to see our neighbours often asking my sisters for advice. Everyone was really proud of my sisters and the job they did, this inspired me to want to be a nurse.
However, when I first moved to the UK going after that goal was not as easy as I had hoped. I am really glad that I had the opportunity to work as a Care Assistant, which motivated me to continue to pursue my dream.
I joined the team as a Care Assistant, before being promoted to Senior Care Assistant and now I am a qualified nurse. I am thankful to the management at the home for supporting me throughout my journey to become a nurse.
My responsibilities at the home include, medication administration, assisting with personal care needs, helping residents with meals and hydration, as well as completing care plans, assessments and admissions. I also spend a lot of time interacting with residents and their families, communication is a really important part of my role.
What I enjoy most about my job is being able to support residents and their families with anything they need. I enjoy knowing I can help to improve residents’ health conditions and improve their quality of life by working with the rest of the team and the local GP.
Since 2018 when I first joined Ashton Manor, I never imagined working anywhere else. The support Beritaz offered during Covid-19 is unforgettable. They went above and beyond to keep us and the residents safe. Mr Kumar provided us all a pair of work shoes and additional uniforms so we could change at work to help with infection control, which was a great idea.
The entire Ashton Manor team is wonderful, we work well together and there is always good communication between the staff. It is a diverse workplace which allows for more ideas and processes to be shared.
What means so much to me is the support I have received here. I remember when Carla called me in the office and offered me a Senior Care Assistant position, I was very happy. She has supported me throughout my time at university, enabling me to work as bank staff for 3 years which allowed me to continue my studies. When I completed my qualification and received my NMC PIN, I told Carla and Susan and they were very happy for me. Everyone has been really supportive for my new role as a Registered Nurse.
