Hi I’m Charlotte and I have been working at Ashton Manor for nearly 3 years as the homes administrator.  Prior to starting work at Ashton Manor I was a nursery teacher, I hadn’t planned to work in a nursing home but my CV was seen by a recruitment agency who said I had nothing to lose by applying for the position.  The rest is history and I haven’t looked back since.

I have got to say it’s  the best job I have ever had, I wake every morning looking forward to going to work, there has never been a day when I have felt I don’t.  Every morning I am greeted by happy cheerful staff, they are lovely people and I feel they are like my extended family.

Carla the registered manager and Susan the assistant manager are very supportive, they always have time for you even if it is not work related.   There are many opportunities to grow and develop and you are encouraged to do so.

The residents and their families are lovely and no two days are the same making Ashton Manor a warm, welcoming, interesting and lively place to work.

Everyone works hard, supports one another and works together to achieve the same goals in ensuring the residents are well cared for and a home from home family environment is created. But you get recognised and thanked for your commitment. The monthly employee recognition scheme where staff are nominated by the team keeps the team moral high and it’s this that has helped us get through the recent difficult times.

I don’t feel I do anything special but do my job, I was blown away last year 2019 when I was nominated and won an award at Surrey Care Associations Annual Social Care Awards. To be nominated by Beritaz Care in its self was a great honour but to have won was incredible. Having been nominated by my colleagues I also received Ashton Manors Employee of the Year Award. It was quite some year for me and Carla now tells me I have to raise the bar and keep going, I’m not sure how just yet but to be supported and trusted is a great privilege.

To top that both Mr & Mrs Kumar the owners of Beritaz Care really look after and care about their staff, during lockdown we received monthly food parcels of meat and veg.  They are approachable and such lovely people

We are looking forward to lockdown being lifted in the hope we can hold another one of our very special summer events.  These are quite a family affair and everyone gets involved even my husband who works in an office by day enjoys helping out at the events and visiting once in a while for a cup of coffee and a chat with the residents. [that was until lockdown].

If you are thinking of working in care and like me wasn’t sure at first why not give it a go you can’t go wrong by applying to work in Ashton Manor or one of Beritaz Cares Care Homes.
