On 8th March Ashton Manor Nursing home, Farnham was host to a 1940’s inspired afternoon tea to help raise money for Dementia UK as part of their ‘Time for a Cuppa’ event. Cllr David Attfield, Mayor of Farnham attended the event, taking time to meet our residents and talking with their families ‘It was lovely to be here and spend time with the Residents and meet everyone. It’s a lovely home and I enjoyed having cakes with the Residents. I feel right at home and this is the part of my job I enjoy’. The resident’s enjoyed an afternoon of music and games, while the staff got dressed up for the occasion, the ladies were pampered, having their hair and nails done and the gents donned bow ties and a sweep of brylcreem. Our local musician Kevin entertained everyone by singing songs from the period and playing his piano and violin and everyone had a good old singalong. Once the frivolities were done, the Mayor cut the cake and everyone tucked into a fantastic afternoon tea.
We hope by holding this event, it will help to raise awareness of Dementia admiral nurses and how they can help families who have a loved one with Dementia
