World Alzheimer’s Day

World Alzheimer’s Day

Today is world Alzheimer’s Day, a yearly event which takes place on 21st September during World Alzheimer’s Month!

At Beritaz Care we are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society in this campaign, which aims to raise awareness around Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as educating the public on the impact of these conditions. Each day we see first-hand the challenges faced by those affected by dementia and we are passionate about finding the best ways to support our residents impacted by dementia or Alzheimer’s.

A key part of this campaign is focussed on education, how to notice the symptoms of dementia in your loved ones, steps for getting a diagnosis and advice on supporting those with dementia. Within the Beritaz Care homes, we are also committed to education on the topic of dementia. We have held dedicated training sessions on the subject, providing our staff with insights into the struggles our residents with dementia face and how we can support them to feel comfortable and safe in our homes. We keep informed of best practices and new strategies that we can apply in our homes to offer the best possible care to our residents with dementia.

As the Alzheimer’s Society is an organisation very close to our hearts, we regularly hold fundraising activities at our social events to raise money to support this great cause. The Alzheimer’s Society do a lot of great work and have many useful resources on their website to provide you with more information on living with dementia, as well as a support line and online chat service for you to ask any questions you may have.
